SAMAST March 2019

At the SA.MAST Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, South Africa's largest and fastest growing township, we really believe that most people will, given the opportunity, embrace practical outlets to express compassionate and responsible behaviour – and our belief stems from 11 years of experience in this vast and diverse community.

We've identified another method to reach out and make massively measurable differences.

"A few months ago, I was driving to our clinic in G Section of Khaye when I noticed a group of artists creating a powerful advert on a wall next to a very busy road. In that moment, the penny dropped. I've been wracking my brain for additional methods to educate and help as many people as possible while utilising as little funds as possible to communicate our message.
The answer was right in front of me!

"Khayelitsha always has something to teach you, provided you're prepared to learn.
Sometimes the lessons are hard and painful, other times they're strange or wonderful.
This is a lesson I've enjoyed learning!"

Considering the massive need to prevent as many unwanted and unsupportable cat and dog births in our country, no stone should be left unturned to provide necessary and essential veterinary services to disadvantaged communities.

Animal health equals human health, something mother nature is trying to teach us over and over again, neglecting this is to also neglect the health and welfare of the human community and to allow, for example, many kinds of transmissible diseases to thrive and weaken disadvantaged communities.

We have already performed over 19 000 sterilisation procedures, preventing the spread of diseases and made possible because we collect and return between 40 and 80 patients almost every week using limited resources, but we can, given enough support, do more. Much more
